CO2OL Tropical Mix - Panama

Date 26- July 2022

NEUTRALISATION OF CO2 EMISSIONS (SINCE 2007) - we produce climate-neutral because we care about a healthy planet!

We rely on a production that is as efficient as possible energy-wise, reducing to a minimum the CO2 emissions. This is true both for production as well as for transportation and on-site assembly.
Our goal is to commit ourselves strenuously to reducing CO2 emissions in the future in order to keep pollution as low as possible. With our products, we aim at offering maximum benefits to the community and at the same time at keeping CO2 emission levels as low as possible.

We have calculated the CO2 emissions of our company for the year 2021 and in return we supported the afforestation project in Panama. The holistic approach takes into account emissions of Scopes 1-3, with operational boundaries covering the entire business operation from energy and mobility to the production of goods and transport.

We've been doing this since 2007 (on a voluntary basis) and we were able to reforest 14.10 ha of fallow land with 6,878 trees.

The CO2OL Tropical Mix project is an all-rounder, generating a variety of impactful benefits. The project location is a 13,242 ha area in Panama.
There the once flourishing tropical forest has been deforested and used for extensive cattle ranching. The project partner's and their goal has been the reforestation of the degraded land with mostly native tree species. The land is gradually converted into a mixed forest. In close cooperation with the local communities, more than 20 different tree species have been planted. This is a major biodiversity benefit. Not only is the project incorporating a wide range of different fauna, but CO2OL Tropical Mix is also protecting habitats of more than 15 endangered species from the IUCN Red List, restoring a healthy forest ecosystem. The project also provides sustainable timber production and cocoa cultivation. Sustainable forest management and cocoa production offer employment opportunities, therefore improve the economic and social situation of rural communities and families. Moreover, the project helps to promote mutual learning and knowledge transfer. CO2OL Tropical Mix has been one of the first in line to be successfully certified under the renowned Gold Standard for land use and forestry projects.
